Our Story
Our Story
It all started with a passion for dairy cows.
Greg and Joy’s story began in 2002, when the dairy industry brought them together on a trip to the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. What started as a shared passion for great cows quickly grew into something much bigger. They were married in 2004, and by March of 2006, that passion became reality with the start of J-G Springs Dairy.
Over the years, their family has grown alongside the farm. Greg and Joy are now raising three daughters—Emily, Leann, and Breanna—who are being brought up with the same love for cows, agriculture, and hard work that built the operation from the beginning.
J-G Springs Dairy has become known for producing high-caliber cattle, with the family exhibiting cows across the country and proudly breeding and owning numerous champions along the way. Today, the farm milks approximately 55 cows, focusing on quality, care, and consistency—because great cows make even better milk.
As the dairy industry continues to evolve, Greg and Joy looked toward the future with their daughters in mind. The idea of a creamery was born as a way to create opportunity for the next generation, allowing their girls the chance to stay involved in milking cows and agriculture for years to come. Now, the operation is not only recognized for outstanding cows, but also for high-quality dairy products made with the same dedication that started it all.
From two dairy farm kids to a growing family, a respected herd, and a vision for the future—this is the story of J-G Springs Dairy, and the start of Goode's Riverside Creamery!
the next chapter...
Five years ago, Greg and Joy sat down with a small dream: to create an opportunity for their dairy to continue through their girls, should they choose to remain on the family farm. As they looked toward the future, the idea of a creamery in their small town was born.
After countless miles on the road exploring other operations with the same goal—keeping a family dairy profitable and sustainable—along with many roadblocks, questions, prayers, and moments of frustration, Goode’s Riverside Creamery became a reality.
Opening in January 2025, the creamery began as a retail space offering hand-dipped ice cream, made-to-order sandwiches, and an outlet for their dairy products. In April 2025, the final inspection was passed, allowing the first load of milk from J-G Springs to run through our pipelines and be bottled right here in Casey County.
Today, milk, butter, ice cream, and heavy cream are all packaged at the creamery. We currently ship to over 30 locations across the state of Kentucky and continue to welcome new partners.
We look forward to continuing to serve Casey County and everyone who has fallen in love with our products
